We at CameraMatics were delighted recently to celebrate something of a landmark day. The final install of our current run of 162 brand new double-decker buses for Rotala PLC has been completed and rolled off the production line.
Members of our Engineering Team have been regular recent visitors to the Wrightbus headquarters in Ballymena, Northern Ireland. Over this period, we have installed CameraMatics systems on 162 buses as they have been built on the production line. From their very first journey, the buses will benefit from the full protection that CameraMatics systems offer – improving the safety of drivers, passengers, and other road users. The new buses will be in service across Rotala's operations: Hallmark, Preston Bus, Diamond and Hotel Hoppa.
In total as part of this run, over 2,500 pieces of hardware have been fitted as the buses were being produced. Each double-decker bus now benefits from a 15-camera configuration, providing full visibility for the driver and improved safety for passengers and road users. These new vehicles are in addition to over one hundred CameraMatics enhanced Rotala buses already in service across the UK.
The camera configuration on each bus comprises a forward camera, five external cameras (one on each corner and a reverse camera), four cameras on each deck monitoring all areas including stairs, and a camera covering the internal front of the bus including the front door.
We’re proud of all the members of our amazing team at CameraMatics, and none more so than our expert engineers. The Engineering Team are our brand ambassadors, representing us and serving our customers daily - and of course getting their hands dirty.
Electrical Auto Engineers by training, the whole team are highly experienced and used to working with a whole range of commercial vehicles. No two days are the same: a typical week can include installations and service calls for HGVs, Recovery Vehicles, Vans, Taxis, Refuse Vehicles, and even Cranes and Diggers. The team pride themselves on tidy, high-quality work – and adhere to the strictest Health & Safety procedures to keep everyone safe.
Engineering Manager Jonathan Slattery, said “I’m delighted to have taken part in the installations on the latest order of Rotala buses. These are some of the most complex installations the team carry out and everyone has worked extremely hard over the last year. Knowing our work makes a big difference to road safety and security is a fantastic feeling and gives us real job satisfaction.”
CameraMatics Co-founder, Simon Murray, said “The last bus of this present run rolling off the production line is something of a milestone. We’re delighted with the commitment and hard work of our engineering team, and grateful to Wrightbus for accommodating us during production. Thank you to Simon Dunn and the team at Rotala PLC for your ongoing partnership, we look forward to continuing to work together to make passenger transport safer and more secure.”
