CameraMatics
Co-founder and CEO, Mervyn O’Callaghan has been named ‘Founder of the Year’ by
Enterprise Ireland as part of their prestigious High Performance Start-Up (HPSU) programme.

Accepting the award, Mervyn said,

“I’m delighted to have been named as Enterprise Ireland’s High Potential Start-Up Founder of the Year 2021, and I’m very grateful to all my peers in the Founders Forum for nominating me for this award. I’d also like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to the entire team at CameraMatics – we couldn’t have come this far without your exceptional talent and continued dedication – and a special word of thanks to my co-founder and long-term business partner Simon Murray.”

For the past year, Mervyn has been an active member of the HPSU Founders Forum. The forum is for CEO Founders who are committed to building and scaling their companies internationally. It provides an environment to address issues, share challenges, seek support, reflect and learn from each other and from founders who are further along the journey.

Founders are nominated for the Founder of the Year award by their peers. Presentations are made to a judging panel and the winner is announced at the Founder of the Year event, sponsored by Grant Thornton. The event is attended by Founder Forum members and other invited guests from the Irish start-up community and is an important element of the HPSU Founders Forum.

Speaking about the programme, Mervyn commented,

“The guidance and support that we received from Enterprise Ireland, the Founders Forum, and my peer founder participants over the last year or so has been invaluable in helping us to achieve our vision of improving driver and vehicle safety globally, particularly as we have navigated these uncertain times together. The list of finalists this year demonstrates the quality and strength of entrepreneurship in Ireland and the ability of Irish companies to lead the way globally.”

Despite global challenges, the last year has been a positive one for CameraMatics, under the leadership of Mervyn and Simon. As well as completing a Series A funding round, we have launched our US operation and launched to markets in mainland Europe and the Middle East. We have also expanded and created a number of jobs across CameraMatics, including introducing a Customer Success team dedicated to making our customers’ experience the very best it can be.

We’re positive and excited about the future and committed to taking both the product, and the business from strength to strength as we serve customers across the world.
