General

What is ZERO, and how does it work?

ZERO is a privacy-first mobility solution that helps organizations track business and commute travel for sustainability and compliance reporting. Employees have full control over their data and can stop ZERO at any time.

Does ZERO comply with GDPR and other data protection regulations?

Yes. ZERO is fully GDPR-compliant, ensuring that all personal data is handled securely and transparently.

How does ZERO protect driver privacy?

ZERO only shares data for trips that you agree to share. Personal trips remain private, and your employer cannot track your real-time location.

For Drivers

Will my employer have access to all my data?

No. Employers can only access:

  • Business-tagged trips (driving performance & emissions)
  • Commute-tagged trips (emissions only)

It is important to understand that all trips remain private by default. Only when the employee tags a trip as business or commute will any data be shared.

What data does my employer have access to?

  • For personal vehicles (default setting):
    • Scope 1 emissions and mileage/route tracing, for trips tagged as ‘business’
    • Scope 3 emissions for trips tagged as ‘commute’
  • For company-insured vehicles:
    • Scope 1 & 3 emissions for all trips
    • Driving behavior data for business and commute trips

Can my employer track my real-time location?

No. ZERO does not provide live tracking—only trip data that you choose to share is recorded.

Will all my trips be recorded?

Only when the app is running with location permissions enabled. Even then, no data will be shared without your explicit opt-in.

Can I stop ZERO from recording a journey?

Yes. You can either:

Close (stop) the app
Turn off location permissions

Does ZERO track other forms of transport?

Yes! You can tag trips as taxi, bus, train, or airplane to keep them separate from driving trips.

Can I use ZERO with a rental or temporary vehicle?

Yes. You can add multiple vehicles in the app and allocate trips accordingly.

What happens if I forget to tag a trip as business or commute?

You can update the trip category later in the app to ensure accurate reporting.

Can my employer see where I have been on a map?

Only for:

  • Business-tagged trips
  • Trips taken in a company-insured vehicle

Do I have to use ZERO?

This depends on your employer’s policy. However, ZERO is designed to benefit both drivers and employers by improving safety, sustainability, and compliance while prioritizing privacy.

For Employers

Can we access driver behavior for business trips?

Yes, but only for trips that have been tagged as ‘business’ by employees.

Can we track employee emissions for sustainability reporting?

Yes. ZERO provides data for:

  • Scope 1 emissions (business trips)
  • Scope 3 emissions (commute trips)

Can employees edit or delete trip data?

Employees can reclassify trips (business, commute, personal) but cannot delete recorded data to maintain reporting accuracy.

How does ZERO ensure accurate trip data?

ZERO uses AI and fraud detection to detect and prevent data manipulation, meaning you can be confident that data is accurate.

Additional FAQs

Will ZERO impact my phone’s battery life?

ZERO is optimized for efficiency and minimizes battery usage by running in the background only when required.

ZERO remains fully GDPR-compliant and applies the strictest privacy standards regardless of location.

How does ZERO handle data security?

ZERO uses encrypted data storage and secure cloud servers to protect driver information.
